Tim Burton's Corpse Bride
What a treat tonight for us girls.... you've gotta go see Burton's Corpse Bride. A love story of a young man Victor (Johnny Depp), who is whisked away to the underworld and wed to a mysterious Corpse Bride - Emily (Helena Bonham-Carter), while his real bride, Victoria (Emily Watson), waits berefit in the land of the living - so the synopsis reads on the website.
The soundtrack is pretty cool too... thanks to Danny Elfman - master composer and contributor to a great number of movies and tv shows!! Here's a clip of the trailer... (*make sure you stop the music on my webpage first to view the trailer!)

Fall is here...
It is here.... the first day of Fall/Autumn... summer has indeed come and gone... the leaves are about to change its colors, the weather is dropping lower and the sun is setting earlier and earlier. Pumpkins are out for sale and cider are sold at every corner mom & pops stores as well as grocery giants by the gallons while cornucopias are adorning desks, doors and homes. How time flies...
The week so far...
Since my very very last posting... a lotta things have been going on. Juggling classes, work, meetings and weekend getaways...
Over the weekend, Chele, Pete and I drove up to Yorkdale over at Sylvia and Jeff's place. We met up with Uncle and Auntie Lim and shared a dimsum breakfast. After that... the three of us met up with Pete's friends who also drove up to Toronto from Rochester. This trip was planned by Pete (interfered a bit by myself) so that he can feast big on Malaysian food at Matahari. Before we sat down for dinner we were at the Ontario Science Center and walked around the city.
Here are some pictures from Toronto over the weekend...
We were walking all around Toronto... Chele used to say how we would go here and there in our car but never walked much.. and so we did... walked all over the city passing through Chinatown, financial district, theater district and saw movie crews moving about as it was the ending weekend of the Toronto International Film Festival.
Lookie me with my eyes closed... and Chele grinning big!
While Matt and Hye Yon are busy with something... Eli and Pete walked on. And then there's the super poses with Eric and Eli. Poor Hye Yon stucked in the middle trying to justify both guys in the superman poses.

Comparative High Edu. Party
My advisor Dr. Johnstone who is also the Director for UB's Center for Comparative and Global Studies In Education organized a party for us Comparative High Ed. lot at his lovely house by the Buffalo Waterfront earlier this evening. Here are some pictures from the party.
We had the party out on the deck overlooking the waterfront and part of the marina. It was a beautiful day to be outside. Ooohh... and good news for Buffalonians and Buffalo Bill's fans - the Bills beat the Texans 22-7 in their first home opener/game for the season!!
Here's me with the sun setting on my background. Mary and myself looking good for the camera! We love taking pictures!!
Here's myself with Tomoka and Mardiana.

Panzica's in town...
Spent a lazy morning lounging around the house today. It's not until I got a call from Uncle Dan that he was in town and Owen will be arriving in Buffalo from Phoenix in a few hours. The plan - to meet up at Anchor Bar (original birth place of the famous Buffalo wings) for dinner.
The girls and I were looking forward to seeing the Panzica's. I haven't seen Dan since he and Auntie Barbara stopped by last fall for a short visit. The girls on the other hand last saw them over Spring Break when they were over at their place in Scottsdale, AZ. I have not seen Owen.. hmm... I think almost 2 years now since we last met 2 Christmases ago. He's grown a lot and is bigger built than what I last remembered. We were reminiscing about the parties I used to bring him along when I was living with them in Austin, TX.
Dan and Owen are in town to visit family and to be at the Bill's Home opener today (the game starts at 1 p.m.). Aunt Barb was not on this trip - she had to stay up since she had to work and as for Elizabeth, she is at school in L.A. We also met up with Dan's mom, Bobbie and sister Laurie. Chele and I used to help out Bobbie and volunteered as ushers at Shea's Performing Arts Center on Saturday evenings where Bobbie is still the usher captain.
Dan's birthday is coming up - September 15th and we got him an early brithday gift. Mom already reminded me of Uncle Dan's birthday last week and we got his gift to him extra early this year. Happy Birthday Dan!~!

Wojtek's party
Wojtek (pronounced Voy-tek) had a party on Friday evening over at his new place, Sweethome Village and we were celebrating his birthday and a back to school get together. Wojtek's birthday was on the 6th of September and he is a quarter century old of 25. Unfortunately, forgetful me :( forgot that I had the camera with me the entire evening and only managed to snap a few pictures for the night.
Look at Wojtek looking "fondly" at the camera... you look so adorable! (so the girls say...) and then there's him with Sharon and Chele. Watch out behind you there Wojtek.. we don't want you falling into the pool!

Cayuga wineries...
Over the weekend... Michele and I both wanted to get away from "reality". "Reality" in Chele's mind is to be able to spend every moment of the weekend watching Season 1 & 2 of the OC. And so.... we she did! Fortunately, we escaped on Sunday and headed to one of the Finger Lakes, this time to Cayuga Lake for its wineries.
If I can recall it correctly, we started at the top of the lake at Montezuma Winery and moved on to Swedish Hill, Goose Watch, Knapp and Buttonwood. At this point, we already racked up 2 dozens bottles of wine and I don't think we can keep on going. Between wine, cheese and crackers, we were getting hungry and so we headed to P.F. Chang's by Eastern Hill mall for dinner. Here are some of the pictures taken on our wine trail at Cayuga.
Peter looking dashing as always and then there's me!
Michele out of the house and off the lazyboy to enjoy nature and wine. Nancy talking to Mario.. I think! Mario should have been out on the wine trail with us... you're missing all the fun!
Chele and Sher... and Peter with the girls... :D

New cammie...
Ooohh.... FYI.... thanks to dad & mom... they got me a new digital camera for my birthday... a Nikon Coolpix 5900 since my older Nikon Coolpix was acting up (one moment it snaps and other times it just shuts off by itself). With reference to the 'fuel price up' picture and any future pictures - most of them will be taken with the new camera :P
For you camera trigger happy buffs - a good thing about using flickr is that next to any of the picture you uploaded, it informs you automatically of what type of camera was used. Click on 'more properties' of the camera that was used for that particular picture a detailed info is displayed.

Gas price up!
Before Michele and I left for Rochester on Friday evening... we headed over to the gas station to refuel... due to a number of oil refineries shutting down off the gulf coast of Mexico because of hurricane katrina - gas prices was rocketing. On Thursday it was a high of $3.09 per gallon and the next day, it was at $3.49 per gallon. $$$

4 years together...
Not only were we celebrating my birthday but it was our 4 year anniversary the following day. Can you believe it... 4 years of Sher & Pete together!! I love you lots Peter!~!
Party in our townie...
Han Wei, Pete and I got back in Buffalo that same Friday the 26th... why the hurry right? Well, the girls and I are having a little party to celebrate our long awaited house warming (more like one year anniversary) of us in our townie, my birthday and a get together of close friends before fall term begins.
Dad & Mum made a picture collage of me filled with some baby & youngin' pictures. I shared Sharon's younger day picture on her birthday.. so I guess to be fair.. here's me sharing my pictures!
My birthday morning was spend at BJs shopping for food for the party. We made sure that we were stocked up well for all our guests :) And here without much further ado.. are pictures from one great party!
On the left is a picture of the IA crew - Young Sang, Amy, Sherene & Tam. Wojtek is on his way to the party and Marie is at another party with Kenny. The picture on the right is Louis, Sherene and Kozy.
Here's the birthday girl with Scottie (busy Scotty G. made time for Sher!) , Mary (doesn't she look gorgeous in that flower print dress?!) and Wojtek (he made it to the party!).
Tam and Chee Ming - whatcha drinking there CM? Right - Chele and Louis. In case you are wondering why Louis's arm is in a sling - he just had surgery done to it.
Peter smiling about something... it had better be about me! *wink... Chele & Lori cuddling up and Han Wei being right at home with the crowd.
Left - Tam & Young Sang smiling at the camera. Right - the girls looking pretty as always!
Leslie made it to the party and this is when the party officially starts!~ Look at all the Penangites.. Leslie (SXI), Sherene(SGGS), Han Wei(PFS) & Sharon(SGGS). Sorry Han Wei, the Saints are really marching in to the party!!
Everyone just bring happy and merry.. and Sharon preparing more Sangria for us lot!
Cake time!~! Aren't I special with 2 cakes? Thanks to Chee Ming and the girls for the chocolate strawberrt layered cake and to the IA crew for the sugar icing chocolate cake! They were both delish! Cake+Girls+Camera=Picture perfect!!
I made my wish and blew out my candles.. wishes come true quick! Louis's birthday was next (it was yesterday on the 31st, which was also Independence day for Malaysia) so we had another round of birthday song singing and candles blowing out for him.
Group picture...
Matthew and Eric both made it to the party - they both drove down from Rochester. Paul (Matt's twin) couldn't make it to the party. He just returned from Spain the day before and is still recovering from jetlag. Until I see you next time Paul - can't wait to hear about all your adventures and rescue mission!
Nancy and Mario also made a drive to Buffalo to wish me a happy birthday! Sadly, they stayed for a short while since they both had to get up early on Sunday and so - to Rochester they had to drive back to.
