Wedding Cakes by Premier Pastry

Mother knows best!! Peter and I received the contact of Premier Pastry from Nancy whose colleague, Tracy shares a business together with our baker extraordinaire Phillip. When I looked at the cake flavors... I knew I was in cake heaven! Premier got me at Chocolate and Truffles and Raspberry!!

Philip is really nice and very accomodating to schedule and meet with Peter and I on early Sunday morning at their Rochester studio since I could not make it before their closing time from Buffalo. I was not only impressed - I wanted a bigger slice of our cake sample!! Peter stopped me from greedily gobbling my favorite cake up so that I can save some for Nancy, Mario, Sharon, Michele and Lori to try.

A hail thunder storm just passed by the UB north campus - it was my first time ever seeing hail almost the size of golf balls and in the middle of June too!

Binthany celebrated with family and friends on their upcoming nuptials with a wedding reception in Toronto before flying across the ocean back to Penang for a 3 days wedding celebration (ceremony, another reception and more!) Sharon & Amelia (who's back in Singapore) could not make the short trip north... but Chele and the Milizias' were there to represent!

June & Kelvin's Wedding

June and Kelvin celebrated their wedding on June 7th, 2008 back home in Penang. Peter and I couldn't be there, but nevertheless, we wish them much happiness and exciting adventures as they start their life together as husband and wife. We also cannot wait to see the rest of the pictures!! Have a safe journey back to Boston!

Here's a photo mosaic I made of their beautiful day. Photos are taken by their wedding photographer Ke Wynn of Whizarts who is also our Penang wedding photographer this December :)

Wine tasting - summer 2008

This past Saturday, Elouise 'Weez', Paul, Joanna, Peter and myself headed to the finger lakes wine region - to Lake Seneca for our annual pilgrimage of wine tasting. Peter found a new winery - 3 Brothers Winery and what an adventure we had there in addition to the other wineries we had frequented in the past. We also made stops at Ventosa Vineyards, Belhurst Castle (and was lucky enough to witness a wedding out in the lawn in progress - got a great big picture of how our ceremony would be like :P and went down to the railway tracks and dock), Billsboro Winery and our last stop at Anthony Road Winery and its growing garden.

Best days... warm summer days!

And it's finally hot, hOt, HOT outside! Temperature rose to a beautifully warm summer kind of a day in the high 80s (possibly low 90s). You all know what that means... fun time splish splashing around in the pool!!

So, grab your bikinis ladies (and trunks or board shorts for you men) and let's hit the pool!

Irises

Pretty red hued irises from my front garden.... I missed seeing them last year when I went home for the summer and it was the first time it bloomed to since I had them transplanted from Nancy's back garden. And this time, at two years old... they are blooming-full!

In D.C.

This past week I was in Washington DC attending a work related conference - and in the very few and spare moments I had, I was able to meet up with Lauren who had recently moved to the city to start a new chpater in her life. In between job interviews, Lauren managed to share some free time and brought my co-worker Raymond, another friend Jill and I to an amazing food joint. She brought us to Teaism - a tea house and restaurant which I am so in love with!! I enjoyed the bowl of Salmon Ochazuke so very much and am craving for it! They also sell a very yummy salt-oat cookie... yumMm!

As of this morning, I received an sms from Lauren that she had received a job offer from one of the interviews she had last week. Congratulations Lauren!! I am so excited for her! Lauren's goal is to get a federal job, thus the move to DC. I hope this new job offer will open many, many doors for her to reach her goal. I was also able to meet up with another friend Jeff who works with the Feds. And introducing Lauren and Jeff was a great idea - this way, when Lauren needs advice about securing a federal job or some advice, she has someone who knows what is going on.
