Ladies Team Malaysia in Matthews, NC

I was in Matthews, NC over the weekend to help out dad and the Ladies from Team Malaysia at the USBC Women's Championship and Queens Tournament. Next to rooting for Team Malaysia, checking out the competition - the ladies and myself had a fun time hanging out together and we also managed to squeeze in a little TLC of a shopping spree at Charlotte's South Park Mall.

Turtle tales.. the BAO-Turtle family

Michele and I got pet turtles... a family of three baby red-eared slider turtles. Thanks to Bethany for getting them for us!! Before arriving at their new home, Chele and I were trying to name them and since Bethany didn't know what gender they were... we came up with the BAO Turtle family. We named all three turtles a particular BAO (bun), like the ones you get at Dim Sum places. And NO we are NOT considering them as food... but we thought it was cute!!

Therefore, let me introduce you to them.... (picture was captured as we let the Baos' explore our little garden)

Border cops recover 1,000 stolen wedding gowns

Bride-2-Bs... try camping out by the US-Mexico border in hopes of landing a nice wedding gown. Just make sure they are not already enroute to special causes/charity/benefits. :D

* * * * *
PHOENIX (Reuters) - U.S. border police found 1,000 wedding gowns stolen from a cancer charity and crammed into a truck trying to get into Mexico, federal authorities said on Tuesday.

The donated dresses were on their way to Los Angeles to a fundraiser for the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation in November when they were stolen in Scottsdale, Arizona, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency said.

Inspectors in southern Arizona recovered the dresses late last week when they inspected a tractor trailer that had been denied entry to Nogales, Mexico, by Mexican customs officials.

Police discovered the gowns, which have an estimated value of $3 million, and arrested the driver. It was not immediately clear if the driver was a U.S. or Mexican citizen.

Fran Hansen, co-founder and national director of the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation, thanked the border inspectors for recovering the missing frocks.

"When the call came in, I felt blessed beyond my wildest dreams," Hansen said. "I'd been praying for that moment for the past several months."

The charity receives donated wedding gowns, which it then resells, using the proceeds to grant wishes of women diagnosed with terminal breast cancer.

Wishes fulfilled by the charity include trips to Disneyland, ocean cruises, and funding reunions for separated family members, sources at the charity said.

Jason's visit...

Jason's having a little holiday away from his work in Japan. He is here for a few days and then back to his hometown of Lincoln, NE for Easter weekend. He will be back in Buffalo for a couple more days before heading back to Japan. He is actually really tired, more like still jet lagged but he does look very 'upbeat' and cheerful in the pictures :D

It's moving weekend for June and lucky for me, I get to see her as she stops by in Buffalo to see her brother Zheng Yang and her dear high school friend... ME! :D Good thing she is not driving alone (Kelvin drove!!). Kelvin flew to Chicago to help June move to Boston where their new home awaits. We met up for breakfast and let the boys men get chummy with each other!

The 300 (very buff and half-naked Spartans)

I was in Rochester at Pete's over the weekend and hung out with Weez and the Walter brothers over bottles of wine and accompaniments. Chele was in San Diego for worked therefore missing yet another Walter brothers activity. The following day (Sunday), Pete and I went to see the 300 - it's about 300 Spartan warriors fighting against Persian enemies.

I watch all kind of movies, but I don't really care for horror flicks because the "pyscho" sound effects just makes me annoyed rather than jumpy. Secondly, I am not one for being the first to the theatre to see real war movies. However, I do enjoy a great fighting/battle epic movie with all those guts and gore spilling out from every corner. I like seeing heads chopped off, blood splashing everywhere and this was a good movie in keeping me entertained and anticipating for the body part to be slashed off.
***gory Sher!!

The 300 was based on a graphic novel and the effects are amazing. To sum up the entire movie in a few words, fighting from the start to the end.
From my personal point of view... if you girls (and guys as well) want to see plenty of extremely buff built (6-packs, buns and all) semi-naked, diaper looking short shorts wearing; flowy, red cape wearing, sword & giant circular shield carrying and metal trojan/spartan helmet adorning their head = this is the movie to see! Let me re-emphasize the semi-nakedness of all the Spartan men!! And to quote King Leonidas, "This is SPARTA!!!"

I won't reveal too much more of the movie, you should go see it for yourself.
