Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End Trailer

More of Captain Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann, Captain Barbossa, Davy Jones and crew. And a new face to the Pirates family, Chow Yun Fatt as Captain Sao Feng - the Pirate Lord of Singapore, captain of the Chinese ship The Empress. Let the countdown to May 25th begin!!!

Dancing cheek to cheek!

Dancing with the Stars is back on ABC and hooray to more ballroom dancing!! I am a rooting for Apolo Anton Ohno!! I know it's still the first week - so I should really let everyone enjoy the first round of dances for now!!

Oh and what a Bonus!! In the midst of Dancing with the Stars was the premiere of the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End Trailer.

The 300 (very buff and half-naked Spartans)

I was in Rochester at Pete's over the weekend and hung out with Weez and the Walter brothers over bottles of wine and accompaniments. Chele was in San Diego for worked therefore missing yet another Walter brothers activity. The following day (Sunday), Pete and I went to see the 300 - it's about 300 Spartan warriors fighting against Persian enemies.

I watch all kind of movies, but I don't really care for horror flicks because the "pyscho" sound effects just makes me annoyed rather than jumpy. Secondly, I am not one for being the first to the theatre to see real war movies. However, I do enjoy a great fighting/battle epic movie with all those guts and gore spilling out from every corner. I like seeing heads chopped off, blood splashing everywhere and this was a good movie in keeping me entertained and anticipating for the body part to be slashed off.
***gory Sher!!

The 300 was based on a graphic novel and the effects are amazing. To sum up the entire movie in a few words, fighting from the start to the end.
From my personal point of view... if you girls (and guys as well) want to see plenty of extremely buff built (6-packs, buns and all) semi-naked, diaper looking short shorts wearing; flowy, red cape wearing, sword & giant circular shield carrying and metal trojan/spartan helmet adorning their head = this is the movie to see! Let me re-emphasize the semi-nakedness of all the Spartan men!! And to quote King Leonidas, "This is SPARTA!!!"

I won't reveal too much more of the movie, you should go see it for yourself.

Around Boston

I was in Boston for a couple of day for a conference. It was my very first professional conference (work related) - AACRAO and it what a great experience it was to learn and meet future peers and colleagues in higher education.

Next to presenting and attending the conference, I managed to squeeze in some time to show Eugene around Boston and brought Beth to taste some Penang food and where else, but the one and only Penang restaurant at Washington Street by the Commons. Here are some pictures taken and if you want to see more of Beantown click on the link Around Boston above or click HERE!

With SuiBee & Adam

I have not seen Sui Bee since Pete and I attended her wedding in 2003. On my Baltimore trip (Feb. 23-26th) for a CIES conference, I got my chance to meet up with her - kill two birds with one stone. She has recently purchased a home, living with an amazing guy - Adam, has three four kids (Twitch, Bumbles, Eve & Fruit - the family is still growing from what I hear!) and starting at a new, more pleasant job in Baltimore.

Thanks to Bee & Adam for putting me up at their new crib, introducing me to the rest of the (4-legged) family members, driving me around and feeding me. I miss you guys already and I need my jeans "scratched" - can I borrow Twich & Bumbles?! :P

The taste of Liberty

Ben & Jerry’s called it: “The sweet taste of liberty in your mouth.”

NEW YORK - Stephen Colbert may have no taste for the truth, but he does have a sweet tooth. Ben & Jerry's has named a new ice cream in honor of the comedian: "Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream."

It's vanilla ice cream with fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and caramel. Announcing the new flavor Wednesday, Ben & Jerry's called it: "The sweet taste of liberty in your mouth."

The Vermont-based ice-cream maker is known for naming its flavors after people such as Jerry Garcia, Wavy Gravy and the band Phish — which Colbert sees as a political bias. "I'm not afraid to say it. Dessert has a well-known liberal agenda," Colbert said in a statement. "What I hope to do with this ice cream is bring some balance back to the freezer case."

Colbert, who spoofs flag-waving conservative pundits on his Comedy Central show, "The Colbert Report," is donating his proceeds to charity through the new Stephen Colbert Americone Dream Fund, which will distribute the money to various causes.

New Year Eve's Dinner

Happy Chinese New Year everyone!! Our original plan was to spend new year eve and new year day in Barrie, Canada with Bethany & the Lims. Due to the unpredictable and fairly bad weather... travelling up to Barrie was unfeasible, therefore we improvised by having our own mini new year eve's dinner. In Malaysia, we call it steamboat but here in the US as well as many places throughout China, it is known as "hot pot".

Lovewrecked

The girls and I watched the ABC Family premier of Lovewrecked (January 21st, 2007) starring Amanda Bynes and it was just oh so cute! Apparently, it was supposed to be out in 2005 but was sitting on some shelf before it got released as a television movie last week. Who else is in the movie? There's Chris Carmack who played Luke on the OC, Jamie-Lynn Siegler from The Sopranos and a definite hottie Jonathan Bennett. Can't help but gush over this over cute-sy movie, but I can't help it that once in a while... you are reminded of your teenage years by watching such tween-chick-flick! :P
