More of Sunday...

Since a few of you have been asking nicely.. although a few pestered me about it... I have decided to but Maroon 5's Sunday Morning on again. Enjoy!~!~

That may be all I need
In darkness she is all I see
Come and rest your bones with me
Driving slow on Sunday morning
And I never want to leave

Malaysia's national dish...

So there I was... cold and rather homesick... homesick about nasi lemak.. of all things!~ So I made nasi lemak last night... Although I did not have any Banana leaves with me to 'bungkus' - wrap... I did managed to cook up nasi lemak for 6 plus 2 leftovers... and as depicted by John Ishii's picture above.. mine came really close to exactly what the picture captured.

I made nasi lemak (rice cooked with coconut milk), fried ikan bilis (anchovies) with slightly roasted and peanuts, my shrimp sambal.. with some assistance from Brahim's packet sauce mix, ayam panggang (grilled/roast chicken) with a special curry spice rub and coconut milk, don't exactly know what the name of it.. but I will call it nyonya potato sticks with peanuts courtesy from my grandma, hard boiled eggs and cucumbers!~ So, as you can imagine.. the picture really represented what I had cooked up!~ Posted by Hello

Just the way you are...

NBC showed Bridget Jones's Diary tonight... well, at present... and even though I have watched it numerous times.... and yes I own both the DVD and CD to the soundtrack.. I am still drawn to the tragic spinster's dilemmas' in all matters of relationships, personal well being.. and it's alway's a big plus oogling at a few dashing looking British men. Where is my very own Italian man at the moment?? Playing cards.. poker with his guy friends.

Just thought that I might share some of my favorites quotes from Ms. Jones...
Tragic Spinster - The Bridget Jones's Diary Fanlisting:

Mark Darcy (Colin Firth): " I don't think you're an idiot at all. I mean, there are elements of the ridiculous about you. Your mother's pretty interesting. And you really are an appallingly bad public speaker. And, um, you tend to let whatever's in your head come out of your mouth without much consideration of the consequences.... But the thing is, um, what I'm trying to say, very inarticulately, is that, um, in fact, perhaps despite appearances, I like you, very much. I like you very much. Just the way you are." P.E.I. & Cape Breton, Nova Scotia - CANADA

I remembered back to my old days in school.. one of my very early teen years... a bunch of us girls were hooked on Anne of Green Gables... and how one day we would head up north to Prince Edward Island (P.E.I) to see where or what inspired Lucy Maud Montgomery of writing about Anne Shirley... well, from discovering Aselin Debison's the Island and her lovely home, Cape Breton... I had better get my planning of visiting P.E.I. back on track and this time include Cape Breton along the way!~!~Michele.. and I that you are with me on this one.. so you had better plan on taking time off from work!~!~ Posted by Hello

the Island lassie...

I was clearing out some old video tapes that were hanging around and caught one of the PBS specials on Aselin Debison... her beautiful voice singing about her dear hometown, Cape Breton. Don't think that I would tape over it.. so it's a keeper!~!~ Posted by Hello

cousin ivy or cousin itt?

Look at my little hanging plant next to out little bush of err.. something (it came with the townhouse!)... all covered in white... don't you think that my little hanging ivy looks like a miniature version of Cousin Itt from the Addams Family?? Only this one's green with white caps on it and smaller!~!~ :P Posted by Hello

snow in me bOots...

I remembered clearly that when I got out the house today, I shovelled our little entry way.. all the way out to the pavement and to our cars... needless to say, there were at least 6 inches of snow or more. Before I stepped out of my car, I tucked in my pant legs into my boots thinking that I would not get it wet... guess what??!! When I did stepped out of the car... the snow got into my boots... that was how much snow there was.. so 6 inches or not... there were a lot of white powdery flakes!~! Posted by Hello

ploughing through the driveway...

When I finally reached the driveway to our townhouse... guess what... more snow... seems like everyone are either at work or at home and not driving... meaning... a snow covered driveway. So there I go, stepping on more gas and slowly made my way through it all to get to my snow covered parking spot. Posted by Hello

of automobiles and snow...

Driving home today was not that great... all the slush and snow kept anyone from going above 35mph... on the way home... I slided, spunned, skidded and even got stuck in the middle of the road!~!~ Everyone... please drive carefully!~! Posted by Hello

sher 7.1 to sher 9.0

Spring semester started today.. and its back to daily schedules of work and classes.. I don't think I would be fussing too much about it if it weren't so darn cold!~! Not bad for a first day of classes... instead of seeing an all white-out empty campus, students are crawling back!~ I got to meet up with some people who I have not seen over the winter break.. that was pleasant. On top of that.. seeing that it is 2005 and all... and all the new challenges of work and school already lined up for me... can anyone help me upgrade my brain?? Puhleeaasee..... Posted by Hello

Saturday Dim Sum...

So there... Michele, Scottie, Peter and I... off we went up North... to Mississauga that is.. one of the 5 big Chinatowns that Ontario, Canada has to offer. Only this time, we went to the new Chinatown in Mississauga rather than the old one on Dundas Street. Got there around noonish and as always,we were starving... so there we stood in line at a restaurant called Nice Meeting You (no kidding!!) for about 30 some minutes until our number... eighty-eight "88" (*lucky!) was called. Once we sat... we ordered like there was no tomorrow... from the Har Kows, to Char-Siew-Paus to Tau-Foo-Fah... yummmy!~!~!

After filling our tummies... we went to the supermarket and bought a trunk load of food stuff. Michele got her Julie-brand rolled-up love letters and I got my Ribena cordial.. and a lot more other stuff that we just got to have in our already filled kitchen!!~!~ And now here we are back home... heating up more sweet pork buns "char siew paus" and egg tarts for Sharon!~!~ Posted by Hello

Leonard Bernstein's "CANDIDE"

Haha... never knew that I would enjoy this as much as I did... but this May 2004 production of Candide was so much better than the last version I caught! (when ever that was?!) The music.. of course the music.. Leonard Bernstein's amazing score... and the conductor extraodinaire.. Marin Alsop! This broadway meets operetta, unites with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra in a semistaged performance that has an awfully wicked sense of humor... it's always good to be laughing!~

What is Candide about... well... here's a little write up about it from Music Theatre International:

Featuring a legendary score by Leonard Bernstein, “Candide” is perhaps the most oft revived of the classic cult musicals. Part sophisticated operetta, part wacky screwball comedy with shades of Monty Python, this funny, irreverent satire is the perfect musical expression of Voltaire’s tongue-in-cheek send-up of optimistic philosophies.

In one lightning-paced act, the hapless bastard cousin Candide is expelled from home, drafted into the Bulgarian army, brought before the Spanish Inquisition, swindled out of a fortune, shipwrecked on a desert isle, and separated time and again from his true love Cunegonde, who bears with remarkable dignity a variety of carnal besmirchments by almost everybody.

Through it all, Candide remembers the lesson of his dear master Dr. Pangloss: that “everything is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.”

time after time...

I wish that time would hold still for a moment so that I can laze back in my lazy world... what have I been up to lately? Lazing around, eating, sleeping, more eating, laundry, taking down Christmas decorations, laziness and more sleeping... that explains the silent or missing entries in this blog of mine... what can I say? When it is cold outside.. all three of us girls hibernate through sleep, food and the tele for some form of entertainment, not forgetting to exercise our brain cells from it!~!~

One more week till the start of the Spring semester... I may be looking forward to the new semester, but this time.. not so sure about heading them books again!~ What ever it is... I am sure that I will battle through the rest of the academic year with lotsa dark circles under my eyes and hair tugging actions from headaches-giving-assignments!!~ I mean, tell me... what kind of assignments or homeworks do not give you headaches??!~ No more worries... think positive and no more procrastination..... yeah right!! :p Posted by Hello

Email from Nancy Milizia
Subject: Our Famous Son - the World of Warcraft artist

Hi all,
Attached is a picture from E-Bay. It contains the signature of our now world famous son Matt on a copy of a game he signed on 11/23/04. Our neighbor Jon Carlson was trying to purchase a copy of World of Warcraft on E-Bay. He came across this autographed copy of the game with Matt's printed name on the front. His mom Diane called us immediately and I of course (the proud mom that I am), immediately sent it on to you all. HOW COOL..!

Nancy
